Tool Care and Maintenance
Elite Concrete Products – Care & Maintenance Guide
Maintenance
-
Clean your float after each use to prevent concrete buildup.
-
Simply rinse with clean water, no harsh chemicals needed. The closed-cell HDPE material resists concrete adhesion.
-
While resilient, avoid striking or dropping the float on hard surfaces to prevent unnecessary damage.
-
If decals or surface coatings wear off, performance will not be affected.
Storage
-
Store floats flat in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.
-
Do not stack heavy objects on top of floats.
-
Avoid long exposure to extreme heat (e.g., inside a hot vehicle, bed of a pickup), which may cause HDPE to lose shape temporarily.
-
If a float becomes deformed from standing upright or leaning against something, simply lay it back on a flat surface, the blade will return to its proper shape within a few hours.
Best Practices in Use
-
Rinse floats between pours if using multiple times in a day.
-
Avoid scraping against rebar, forms, or sharp edges that can gouge the float.
-
Use proper floating techniques to maximize tool life and performance.
-
If the blade becomes scraped or gouged, the damage can often be repaired with a torch if done correctly. Please contact Elite Concrete Products for assistance before attempting this repair.
